Horse Care
The horse care program is designed for enlightened horse owners and healthy, well horses. A strong emphasis is placed on learning, and you will be encouraged to take advantage of educational materials and opportunities to empower you to better understand what is best for your horse. And yes, knowledge is power. Take a look at the Resource page to get an idea of what is available.
We are passionately pursuing training and riding techniques that benefit the horse’s mind and body thus enriching our communication and relationship with these marvelous animals. For this reason, the use of mechanical devices (draw reins, side lines, tie downs, martingales, shank bits, etc.) is discouraged because they interfere with true communication and understanding. If you have a horse that you need help with let's talk about it.
We believe in wellness pure and simple. We continue to search for new holistic ideas to keep our friends well and dis-ease free. We will talk about your horse’s past and current condition before he/she arrives and discuss how to continue forward. Every horse is evaluated individually and holistically, every aspect of their care being taken into consideration:
Emotional well-being is achieved through our natural, reduced stress environment and training/riding practices that the horse can understand.
Physical well-being is achieved through correct hoof trimming, balanced dentistry if needed, body work if needed, holistic veterinary care if needed, and nutrition.
Nutrition plays a huge role in physical well-being and together, we will design a feed/supplement program specifically for your horse. Free choice forage, either grass or hay, is the basis of the nutrition program. We prefer organic alfalfa pellet sand timothy pellets. but other feeds are available. We use rice bran for added fat and calories. Every horse receives ground flax, kelp and added salt in their feed and there are free choice mineral feeders placed outside the barn. Judicious deworming and psyllium are included in the board. We would be delighted to be able to help you help your horse and to have you join us in our continuing quest for knowledge.
$670-$700 per month includes everything mentioned above.
The owner is responsible for charges for hoof care, body work, veterinary care and dental care.
